There was a post earlier on www.mactricksandtips.com where the top 100 Mac applications were given. I felt that this was indeed a very interesting list and they really went out of their way to compile such a comprehensive list. They were a couple of applications that would be very helpful to Mac users. Some of the applications were free, but there were some that were not, though you could say that they were all reasonably priced when you think of the features that they have. All in all, this was a very useful list of applications but I think that it would be much better if the prices of those applications that were not free were posted as well.

For those that were listed under the category Computer Files, I agree that AppFresh was a great application. It would definitely be able to keep you updated since it could check third party applications for any updates. As for another application listed, which is Quicksilver, I can agree that it is truly one of the greatest of all the Mac applications. It could efficiently increase productivity, being a quick launch tool which lets you do almost anything you want to.

Some of the other Computer Files applications that I personally feel to be greatly useful are TextWrangler, TidyUp and Xslimmer. For the Internet applications, my preferences are Adium, Colloquy, CSSedit, and Cyberduck (which is a great and free FTP application).

This list would be great for those who are starting out in using Macs. There actually are a lot more but this list is pretty much a good “essential” list.
