This is a bluehost question posted by Early Out on 03 May 2006

As part of its battle against spam, Comcast has started blocking direct connections to its email servers from what it considers “residential” IP addresses. How it identifies a “residential” IP address is unknown, and they’re not talking.

The technique isn’t working very well. Starting this evening, Comcast has begun blocking connections from one or more of the Bluehost email servers (in the case of the error I’m getting, the server at IP 70.98.111.231). With over 100,000 domains, that’s one mighty large “residence!”

I’ve sent messages about this screw-up to someone at Comcast and to the Bluehost support address. Got your ears out, Rando? I can probably track down a suitable contact person at Comcast for you, if it would help.
