This is a bluehost question posted by Falcon4 on 22 April 2007

I’m trying to download any file from the cPanel interface. I almost never do, since I’m not one for backups or logs… but a few times I want to give it a try. I get a .gz file, that downloads unusually fast. I open it, and it’s incomplete.

To get a few possible suggestions out of the way, no, it’s not the browser (I download tons of crap every day from sites all over the place, including many scripted downloads from my own Bluehost site), and it’s not the user (I’m no internet n00b).

It seems like the script that feeds the file to me is cutting the download off short. Hex editing what I have, there isn’t an error message at the bottom of the file either. It’s really kinda strange. It happens with raw log files, daily/weekly backups, pretty much anything that comes up as a .gz file. Except of course, those that my site produces (even scripted ones). It’s got to be a cPanel thing. I’ve also noticed my site getting a “CPU usage exceeded” message while the server auto-processes my log files for Webalizer. Kinda annoying as well, but hey.
