If your server is scheduled to have a hardware upgrade, be sure to make a backup of your site contents and any databases you have installed. After an upgrade last night, the html server and mysql servers are finally back on line and stable, but all my databases have disappeared. Tech support first told me that bluehost did not make database backups and it was up to me to recreate the databases. Now they’re said that they might in fact have a backup and will restore it. Meanwhile my client is upset because their dealer locator hasn’t been working all day.

The moral? Make backups of your site if you hear of any upgrades to be done. Also check each of your server features to be sure that they’re working. Tech support doesn’t always seem to be aware of what’s been out of service.
