I just installed the SMF forum and it’s working. At the end of process the system told me that my folder permission (the folder where I installed my forum) was writeable and that I should change that for security. I’m confused. The permission is 755 and what should I change it to? If I perform a mod to the basic forum, or install a theme, then should I set it back to 755 for the mod/theme, and then back to lower setting. What setting to use for normal everyday activity? Why. (thanks – I know how to change easily in ftp client WinSCP – just not what to and why?)
