Bluehost : Help please! Hotlink Protection syntax error

I have done a search and cannot locate an answer for this.

I am trying to activate HotLink Protection and keep getting this error.

“Syntax error line 6 of home/username/public_html/.htaccess (then a long string of numbers and letters that change each time I enable and disable)

Rewrite Rule: bad flag delimiter”

When I view the .htaccess file in code view line 6 is blank.

Should something be in line 6? If so, what? I apologize I am not too savy in this area.
