Bluehost : Password Protection Problem

This is a bluehost question posted by JCR on 27 October 2007

For the past year I have had my website protected by a password. I protected entry to my home page (the root directory?). This has worked fine–people had to enter a username and password to initially get to the home page. Then once they were in they had free run of the joint. That’s just how I wanted it.

On my site I have multiple pages–about half of them have small video files embedded in them.

Today I upgraded to Leopard. I also upgraded to Freeway 4 Pro for Leopard. I had been using the regular Freeway 4 Pro. The initial publish and upload took a long time as the site rebuilt all the directories.

I now have the following problem. The password block becomes active not only when the site is first entered. It also blocks entry to any site that has a movie file. The dialog box indicates that the password is needed to access the movie.

When I disable the password feature–this goes away and the videos all show fine, but I have no security.

Any ideas on what might be going wrong and how to get it back? . As you can probably tell–I’m a fairly basic user. So be gentle.
