Bluehost : POP SpamBox download strangeness

Anyone out there a SpamBox expert? My current confusion is that my pop session to a user spam email account “user@domain.com/spam” does not retrieve all the emails in the spam folder.

Here is what I am seeing; squirrelmail webmail for the spam folder of a user has hundreds of emails while a pop email download of the messages to a computer email client only sometimes fetches a couple of emails.

My current theory on the problem or possibly correct behavior is that this user email account is also used as my catch-all email account, and that pop session to user@domain.com/spam only fetches spam emails addressed to user@domain.com and not the catch-all email sent to other users.

Most of my email user use imap computer clients and the spam folder all looks correct for those.

Is SpamBox part of the SpamAssassin open sources (spamassassin.apache.org) or its own project?
