I’m thinking of getting a reseller account but not sure if I really need one..

Right now I own and manage a small web design company (20+ customers). I have shared hosting on another hosting company, and have been for the most part very pleased (excellent cs!). The only downsides are.. well.. the fact that they offer no reseller or dedicated hosting.. so i dont have private nameservers and they takeover the TECH INFO in the whois with their respective branding.. all of which makes it seem very unprofessional.. also, they brand the CPANEL, and so, whenever my customers take a look at their email through their respective domain.com/webmail/ they see the big host banner which i also hate.. I dont normally offer just ‘hosting’ without actually managing the website myself so on the other hand, i don’t have any problems having 1 cpanel for all the domains..

But still it would be a lot easier for me, to have individual cpanels for each domain.. so all the mails and all the dbs are to each respective domain.. i love that.. but the downside of a reseller account of course is that i have a lot less resources to work with with a big price increase.. although removing all the branding they have is also a plus..

so basically, do you guys think it’s worth it? i pay about $5 a month where I am at right now.. for “unlimited” space and bandwidth.. what most scares me is that everything’s been fine with them, and i’m scared to move to another host provider and for things to get ‘choppy’.. my customers and myself are satisfied with the near perfect uptime and how things are right now..

I know that soon (a few years from now) I will need dedicated hosting.. So it’s best for me to go to a web hosting company that gives that option too so the transition is easier when I do upgrade to that..

and also.. theres one thing that’s keeping me from jumping into the hostgater bandwagon just yet..

that https: and information.com thing has me a little confused.. i’ve read a few posts on it.. but so there’s no way to disable it? i’ve read the TOS and it isnt metioned there (i think not).. so any of my sites that don’t have a static ip assigned will jump to that page if or when a customer writes https: in the address bar?
