Hey everyone. HostGator seems to have more than it’s share of extremely satisfied customers, and a few detractors as well.

I’m considering moving from my current host, they’re very slow to respond to tech support, have NEVER communicated with me in 2 years except if I was late with a bill payment. They change policies (like locking users out of MySQL using external connections) without telling us (even after), and the servers are just plain slow.

So - here’s my question. One of the problems I have is that their MySQL machines seem pretty slow. The webpages (mostly) load OK speed wise, except the ones that talk to the databases, they’re MUCH slower if they manage to load at all. And I’m not talking about complex pages. Even simple login pages.

Anybody here want to comment on these speed issues from the user perspective?
