I just purchased a dedicated server, and also have a resellers account. Total I’m paying out to hostgator is almost $250 a month. But for those considering upgrading to a dedicated server, think hard first.

1) Sales rep. told me hostgator would transfer the accounts (with no problem). Which was done but there was a series of problems:
a) Permissions got mangled (many folders go set to 750 permissions resulting in Forbidden messages)
b) Some subdomains didn’t get transferred at all.
c) SSLs did not get transferred (still trying to work this out)

2) Once running a dedicated server the questions tend to be much more technical, so i figured my tickets would be handled differently than the $4 a month “how do i create an email address” tickets.
I guess not; my tickets seem to take 24 hours for each response, and need to progress through all the levels.

I wouldn’t mind 24 hours if the response was a decent attempt to answer my question or gain more information. Not just an off the cuff non-answer, which then costs me a full day because i have to re-ask my question and wait another 24 hours hopefully the next guy actually reads the question.

For any admins, take a look at ticket PFP-2827115 (Jeremy M.’s response). He obviously didn’t even read past the first sentence. There were only 3 sentences in my message, but he can only be bothered to read the first one?? This is seems to be the case for 50% of ticket responses.

I don’t want to seem like an a**hole, but hello! I’m paying the equivilant of 50 hatchling accounts, so why I am I only getting the same support as 1 hatchling??? Am I crazy to have expected more?
