Wow, where to begin. First, I’ve been a TP customer for several years. I finally decided to “upgrade” to a newer server using the dualxeon promo. Well, I have to say it was a mistake. What has happened to the great support I received when I placed my first order with TP way back when? Let me break it down:

I placed the order with Cedric The Salesman via online chat. Mistake one, I’m not sure Cedric has an IQ. I wanted the dual 3.2 Xeon with SATA RAID w/ 250 GB drives. Well, he really screwed the order up, got me a dual Xeon 2.8 with SCSI RAID x73 GB drives. Wow. When I complained, they actually wanted me to keep the server and pay more to get SAS drives!!!

Well, that order was cancelled and the correct order was placed (or so I thought). The server was configured and the email said it was ready to go. Guess what? It wasn’t. I guess someone forgot to turn it on or something because I couldn’t communicate. New ticket entered. No response. Online chat again. Now they said the server wasn’t finished, but it would be ready shortly.

30 minutes later, server ready email arrives. I remote in. No SATA RAID card. I create a new ticket to have the card added. Wait, wait, wait. I finally go to online chat again. The tech (BIG mistake, I forgot his name), said he would submit the ticket to the data center queue “post-haste”. 5 hours later, nothing. I call. Guess what? The ticket’s still in tech support hold. They route the ticket.

I get a comment back from the data center to verify that the drives can be wiped clean in order to set up RAID. I verify it’s okay. While I verify, I recommend they review the processors since Device Manager claims they are 2.4 and I’m support to get 3.2. He responds that the provisioned the wrong server! Wow!!!

Well, now I’m waiting on the “correct” server to get installed. This will be server #3 for 1 order!!! How about that!

I just hope after I finally get the correct server going I have no further issues. The frustration I’ve had on getting a simple install working is astronomical.
