Ok, so I have a customer who bought our smallest plan VPS, which has 128MB of RAM. Well… He had a problem with yum, and it came out to be that he needed more RAM, so we were trying to be nice to the guy and said ok, we’ll add the RAM and invoice you after. We added another 128MB of RAM, and invoices him $2.50 for the RAM. recommended he just upgrade his package because it’s only an additional $2.00/mo. He complained and said that what’s the point of having a VPS if you can’t run YUM, although I did a yum update on his VPS and it went fine. But yum install gcc didn’t work because of the RAM.

We have seperate packages and all of them aren’t priced heavily and it’s a simple click of a button to upgrade. Well, we go for a couple of days, just leaving the invoice, he then doesn’t pay his invoice and I reply to his ticket asking him to simply pay or else we will have to drop his RAM back down to 128MB of RAM.

He never replies and all of the sudden I get a cancellation request with the reason “kids”. That’s it! Just “kids”… Now is this my fault that he can’t afford another $2/mo? Or that he is unwilling to pay for an upgrade of which he complained about not having enough resources?

Also, he is within his 10 day cancellation period, but went 3 days out of the 4 he was with us using free RAM. Should he get a refund?
