Web Hosting : Configuring cPanel Servers For Reseller Clients

Hostgator and Bluehost are our best webhosts and godaddy.com is the best domain registrar.

I want to configure our cPanel servers so that our reseller clients can host end user sites without the resellers’ end users knowing that we even exist.

To do this, we will use generic domain names with WHOIS privacy to form our server host names (e.g. “host.quick-server-dns.net”). These will be used as our mail server host names as well, so this would prevent any “branded” domains (e.g. “host.ourcompany.com”) from being passed in e-mail headers. We will encourage our resellers to use custom name server addresses for their end users too.

We lease the servers from LiquidWeb, so an IP WHOIS for any site will display their information – not ours.

Can you think of anything else that we can do to eliminate the possibility of our resellers’ end user clients from finding out that we host their sites?

The only way I want them to be able to find out that we are the host is if they get a subpoena for LiquidWeb to release our information. We aren’t doing anything illegal by any means; that’s just how restricted I want our information to be.
