I finally found out who’s behind “Easy Web Publishing”. It’s Hostopia, “a leading provider of wholesale private-label, web, email, and application services.” They buy up hosting accounts. They recently bought Tucows’ hosting business, for example.

Hostopia is in Fort Lauderdale, FL. They in turn are being bought by Deluxe Corporation (NYSE:DLX), which is mostly a company that prints blank bank checks. THey are branching out, since check printing is a declining business.

For some strange reason, Hostopia is hiding behind the name “Easy Web Publishing”. They were more up-front about the Tucows acquisition. Actually, it’s encouraging to find out there’s a major company behind the thing, rather than a few guys with some servers in a colo.

Meanwhile, I’m trying to migrate away from them. Moving to APlus didn’t work out well. Next, HostGator, if the survive the hurricane. HostGator HQ is in Houston.
