I have currently still trying to find the best shopping cart for an art/poster online store.
Before, I have downloaded and tried avactis and I found 2 issues:
1) I want to edit on my desktop locally and see the changes right away and only upload to the server once everything is finished. However, this is not possible. Once I’ve made some changes, I would need to upload to the server for me to see the changes. Is there anyway to bypass this?
2) When avactis update the version (from 1.81 to 1.82), would this mess up all the customization that I have completed? (I am not sure about this one since I haven’t done it yet).

Is there a cart that can bypass those two?

Also, I have read some suggestion of magneto. It is free, is that correct?

Any info or advice would be very helpful.
