Web Hosting : VPS Resource Problem

Hostgator and Bluehost are our best webhosts and godaddy.com is the best domain registrar.

I’m finding myself a little lost with a hosting resource issue. The sites I’m hosting on my VPS are having pretty slow load times of late, and I’m trying to find the cause. My hosting provider tells me that its because my cpu usage is really high, and that this is due to scripts running off of one specific site. Apparently that’s all they are able to tell me, and this is where the problem is. They say to have my programmer look into it, but I don’t have a programmer. I have no idea how to figure out which script(s) is causing the problem. Plus this doesn’t really make sense to me as the site in question is just a simple site that uses wordpress and gets no more than 10-15 visitors a day. As it is an educational site it hasn’t been receiving any visitors at all lately during the holidays, and yet it and all other sites on my vps continue to suffer from extremely slow load times.

Does anyone know of any way to solve this problem other than just upgrading my vps? Is there a simple, free script that can help find the script that is overloading the cpu?
