I have a newbie-ish question. I gave my account (I have whm access) an ip address. I have three add-on domains in my account, plus my account domain. The IP address that I gave myself is resolving to a subdomain that I have hosted for someone (in my cpanel), rather than the account domain. Is this a propagation issue or is it a server issue? It’s really frustrating me. It’s bee about 24 hours, and everything seems to be fine with everything else except that the IP doesn’t point to where it should.

I have two separate MySQL installs and whenever Cpanel updates MySQL, as it did last night, it will shut down all instances of MySQL on the server. This is a problem for me as the other MySQL instance is not in any way tied to Cpanel. For now, I’ve setup a cron to make sure the other instance is running and if not then auto start it. But obviously I’d like to avoid this issue altogether. Any way I can stop Cpanel from shutting down all instances?

These logs are automatically tar.gz’d during the log rotation process:
However, these logs are not… and I’d like them to be, since /var is a little low on disk space:
Any pointers in accomplishing this, and any ideas why some logs are tar.gz’d and others are not?

I did a restore yesterday for an account.

Is it possible, that after a restore, a client could have email-problems.
The client had problems to retrieve his mail via Outlook (pop3/imap).

After he recreated the account in Outlook the problem was solved.
Has this anything to do with the restore/webserver, or is it for sure a problem of the client?

i was looking and found most posts outdated with newer versions of browsers and cpanel 11.25 out now. i am using the current version of whm and cpanel. i would like to put a form on my website so customers can login to either there control panel or there roundcube webmail ONLY securely. also i would like to have a domain, username and password field on the form, not just username and password.

I am newbie to whole networking and SMTP, but I really want to know how the email works.
Am trying to send a mail using javamail and Default SMTP Virtual Server on my local machine.
In the program that sends the mail I have mentioned host as “localhost”, but the email are stuck in the queue folder.
I have read it that I need to use my ISP’s SMPT server, but I want to by-pass my ISP’s SMTP server, how can I do that
I have read it that I need to use a “smarthost”, but what is “smarthost” and how can I set it up.
By now you can figure it out that I am lost, but any suggestion that will put me in the right direction is much appreciated.
