I contacted support and ever since I’ve felt like I’ve been part of a clown show. These guys are quick to respond, but their responses are basically of a “let-me-just-throw-the-ball-in-your-court” kind:
I’ve asked repeatedly to speak with their supervisor, but they seem to just ignore my responses altogether and continue with their shpeal of finding problems on my end. I’ve asked to have my domain moved to another server. IGNORED. Every new message I get is from a different support rep. No wonder their left hand can’t tell what the right one does.

I would like to commened Joel Hu, one of your technical assistants in the online chat system. He aided me in a variety of issue’s, some of which involved him having to go talk to a admin in which case he kept me updated the whole way throught the process. By far he was one of, if not the best technical support people I have dealt with not only from Host Gator but from any company I have dealt with, which is a rather long list based on my records of being able to break my computer systems! I have dealt with tech support from Microsoft, openSuse (un-official), EA Games, a variety of hardware companies, Microsoft Xbox Division and Joel was by far the best.
I would also like to take note of Angela R., who was the Supervisor who replied to my feedback email. I usually submit feedback to company’s but this is the first time I have had a reply that was a simply automated system message.

It seems that my website was down due to my name servers being changed or updated by VeriSign.
Few questions to solve If anyone knows, How come my website was showing up ok on my computer, my ISP which is sky, but when I went to the mother in laws to drop off a camera I thought I would check my website which was showing “Internet explorer cannot display the webpage” and would not load at all. The mother in laws ISP is Virgin media.
I contacted HG Support who updated the DNS to resolve to the correct domain and would be live within 6 hours.
I am very annoyed. I have lost 4 days of sales because of this, I was not even told about this and if I had not gone to the mother in laws I would not have known of this problem.
Is this common practice with hosts and VeriSign not to say anything?
I have been a HG customer for around 5 years and still happy except for the slight hicup?

This is the second time I am writing a review. And the reason for this is unparalleled Hostgator service. I started with hostgator in September. And so far experience has been awesome. Till date, I have hardly experienced any downtime. With my previous host every other day I used to get the message “The forum is unable to connect with the database” due to those useless people. But with hostgator I am glad. My website users are more than happy now, with no downtime and no harassment.
Plus, I would specially like to mention about the support. Both the Live Chat and Ticket System are great. Live chat is specially for the less experienced webmasters like me who need support in case of emergencies. I have always found the Ticket system better here due to the quality and accuracy of replies I have got. The Live Chat executives somehow don’t seem to be sure about their replies, but still I would say they are better than any executives of other hosting sites. But Live chat can be better, but Ticket System is THE BEST !!!.
Specially would like to give a lot of thanks to The Unparalleled service of Hostgator. I am just a 17 year Old Webmaster in the final year of my school. At this crucial time when I need to concentrate on my studies due to the final exams, I dont need to worry about my website. Because I know hostgator is always there, And would be at their best always. It’s due to their unparalleled service, I have been able to give the best in my studies, not worrying about my website.
To sum it up. Good Bless all the people at Hostgator. And may you be the only host on internet for years to come.

I stopped using my hostgator account months ago when a family emergency came up, only now have I decided I want to use it again. I spoke to a member of staff and was told i would have to pay the outstanding invoice then it would be activated. Today I paid my invoice, nothing happened, so I went into live chat to speak to a sales representative. It took him 4 minutes to even bother replying adknowledging my question, in a day thats a short amount of time but for a support chat thats meant to be live, thats a long time, and we spoke for 30 minutes without getting anywhere.

I have today requested the cancellation of my account under it’s 45day gaurantee. I have recieved the ticket back as ackknowledgement of the cancellation but am still waiting for any action.

This came about from service that I feel that I have recieved. I recently purchased a new baby hosting pack and it was activated. I uploaded my joomla sites which are not that busy by any stretch of the imagination. The sites were slow (still are especially in the backend)

However they never were when I was on an older HG Plan on a different server. I was asked to carry out ping requests etc, but as I said I thought it was more of a slow database mysql thing. Having said that I could be wrong.

I did however in order to save the hassle that I knew would follow asked to be moved back to the old server, aparrently “HG are not in the habbit” of doing this…. I was not asking you to make it a regular occurance simply a matter of saving time. Come on, I mean how long do you want to spend troubleshooting an issue / annoying your customer? Vs an easy fix that build consumer trust??

Since I got my dedicated server a few weeks ago, I’ve had several instances when I was told two completely different things by two different techs. This morning, I was told that I didn’t need to restart exim when making changes to remotedomains. 20 minutes later, when my email still wasn’t being delivered, I was told by another tech that I need to restart exim whenever I make changes to remotedomains. This is pretty frustrating especially for someone who’s just upgraded from a reseller account.

I been with a lots of hosting company’s for 11 yrs of gaming and some where just down out bad and poor support .
I know this is my first day with hostgator but so far its been great and i really think this will be are home for now on or untill i retire from gaming anyways.
