Webhosting : Creating a Subdomain in Cpanel Problem

Hostgator and Bluehost are our best webhosts and godaddy.com is the best domain registrar.

This web hosting thread started by Crim50 0n 18 March 2009

I recently created a subdomain in cPanel, such as the following: subdomain.domain.com

However, the subdomain is redirecting to a directory of the same name as the subdomain, such as:
domain.com/subdomain

Does anyone know why cPanel does this? How do I keep subdomain.domain.com on the subdomain, and not redirecting to a directory? I have not set-up a redirect for the subdomain, it seems to just do it automatically after I create a subdomain.
