Bob Parsons is the CEO and Founder of GoDaddy Group Inc; a leading web hosting and domain registration company; reigning supremacy in the industry for a long time now. It was during the Vietnam war that Bob Parsons joined the U.S. Marine Corps and went on be awarded the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and a Purple Heart Medal as well as the Combat Action Ribbon.
Thereafter, he joined the University of Baltimore where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant. His first brush with his entrepreneurial career was in 1984; when he started a software company under Parsons Technology in his basement. By then; he had learned about writing computer programs. He then created the company’s very own software; MoneyCounts and Personal Tax Edge; and utilized direct mail marketing in an attempt to sell the products.
It was in 1994, that Parsons Technology was sold to Intuit, Inc. for $64 million dollars. At this time; the company had nearly 1,000 employees, $100 million in annual revenue and nearly 3 million customers. By then the company had over 100 products.
Then in the year 1997; Parsons started Jomax® Technologies, using funds from the sale of Parsons Technology. In 1999; this company was renamed GoDaddy and in a time period of one year; GoDaddy became an ICANN-accredited domain name registrar.
Today GoDaddy Group Inc; comprises of three ICANN-accredited domain name registrars, including flagship registrar GoDaddy.com® and reseller registrar Wild West Domains®, Inc., as well as Starfield Technologies,™ Inc., its technology development arm.
